Stress · Sex Differences · Glia
I am a behavioral neuroscientist by training, having completed my PhD under the mentorship of Dr. Cara Wellman at Indiana University. My graduate research examined sex-dependent stress effects on microglia and astrocytes, and the role of gonadal hormones in regulating sex differences in glial morphology.
In 2018, I started my postdoctoral training in Dr. Eric Wohleb’s lab at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Here, I am examining pathways which guide microglia-neuron interaction in stress. In addition to these microglia-oriented projects, I am investigating the role of astrocytes in stress-induced vascular remodeling and blood-brain barrier compromise. This work is supported by a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award from the National Institute of Mental Health.
Moving forward, I plan to integrate previous research aims into a broad program studying cell-to-cell interactions in health and disease, neurovascular alterations in stress, and glial contributions to energy maintenance and behavioral function.
